Bill Mayer SaddlesTM: FOAM TECHNOLOGY

Bill Mayer in his shopBMS custom foam cores Bill Mayer, Sr. began working with H. & D. Molding in 1978. Over the years he tested many different designs and foam products. His goal was to produce a custom seat that offered the highest degree of comfort and durablity. He wanted a product that could be customized without the restrictions of his earlier design which contained a built-in, adjustable spring mechanism. After many years of testing using the latest in technology, his goal was achieved.

H. & D. Molding still manufactures the foam cores for the saddles we build today. The foam is manufactured in different densities to suit each rider's individual specifications. In a letter of 10/24/2001, Mr. Wimbish, President of H. & D. Molding states:
"I first met Bill in 1978. He manufactured motorcycle seats and I was molding Urethane Foam Products. I've never met anyone as excited about his product as Bill was....
Anyway, he asked me if I could build molds for him to mold the foam cores for his saddles. I started molding his saddles for him and we even experimented with molding the side springs into the foam at the same time we molded the saddle. This didn't satisfy Bill because he said it took away from the idea of 'Custom Building' a seat for individual customers".
Mr. Jim Wimbish
President, H and D Molding Company
