1. Stock motorcycle seats have never been too comfortable. A designer who may never sit on it designs each primarily with a "look" in mind. These seats are typically flat, slab-sided creations with little or no shape to the seat. Ever try sitting all the way through a sporting event on bleachers? It may be an odd comparison, but stock seats have more in common with a bench than an easy chair. Both the bench and stock seat try to distribute the weight of a curved surface (your backside) over a flat surface. This creates pressure points in your pelvis, resulting in the numbing saddle soreness we all know too well. The Bill Mayer Saddle eliminates these pressure points by increasing the surface area on which you sit and by controuring that area to more closely match your anatomy.

3. The Bill Mayer Saddle is the result of nearly 35 years of research and development, and fifty years of riding experience on the part of Bill Mayer. Unhappy with the constant pain he had to endure on anything but the shortest of rides, Bill Mayer began making changes to his stock seats in an attempt to make them bearable. Gradually, more and more riders began asking him to make seats for them, having seen him at rallies or just out for a Sunday ride. As a result, Bill developed the original custom fitted touring saddle more than 30 years ago, and the Mayer legend was born. Nearly all of us are motorcycle enthusiasts, and have been riding since we were old enough to straddle a machine. We put all that experience and development into what we feel is simply the best product on the market.

5. The Bill Mayer Saddle doesn't need wings or springs. Advances in foam technology over the years along with improved design have rendered spring construction obsolete. The Bill Mayer Saddle features a sleeker, trimmer profile that blends artfully with the lines of your bike, but doesn't sacrifice comfort.

6. A solo seat is just that. Designed for the single rider. If you primarily ride alone, this is the seat for you. The front portion is given the Bill Mayer Saddle treatment, while the rear portion is simply upholstered to match, and remains virtually unchanged from stock.

7. The Bill Mayer Saddle design is meant to accomodate a variety of riders. Your Bill Mayer Saddle is a custom, hand-made product. We use varying densities of foam depending on your specific height and weight, and we tailor the shape to suit your specifications. Because of this, we can assure most riders a comfortable fit.

8. Vinyl is the best option for the price conscious rider, or those
who prefer a lower maintenance product. Smooth and "basket-weave" (perforated) vinyls are
available. Perforated vinyls are not water resistant, and care should be taken to keep the foam
from becoming and remaining wet. There are several advantages to leather. Because it is a natural product, leather "breathes", and remains cooler in summer, warmer in winter. Leather will easily outlast vinyl products if care is taken to maintain it. |
