2008 YAMAHA STAR RAIDER

After talking to Bill Mayer over the summer about his seats and philosophy on Seat making I decided to take the plunge and get my 2008 Star Raider seat fixed. The stock seat was OK but I am one of those always looking for ways to improve even good things. I sent my saddles to Bill along with the picture and measurements requested in order to make a saddle as perfect as it can be for each individual rider. I was really excited to see what Bill would come up with for me. We discussed the material and what I was looking for in a seat at some length and decided on the basket weave pattern top and smooth sides.

When the seats came back I checked out the look and was well pleased with the quality of material and the professional fit of the work. I hurried to my Raider and put the seats on. Throwing a leg over it I settled into the seat to find the bars fell under my hand in perfect position to my placement in the saddle. Lumbar support was great and it felt as though it had been molded to me.People seldom realize what a difference in riding position makes in regards to how a bike handles and the comfort offered with a really great saddle. I rolled my Raider out side strapped on my helmet and took it down the road. My leg position was as perfect as my reach to the bars and I felt like I had become part of the bike. The stock saddle made you feel you were sitting on the bike and Mayer saddle put you into it! What an awesome combination. Yamaha should pay Mayer to design their seats as this was a huge improvement over an already good seat. I am looking forward to many miles on this bike and saddle. Everyone that come in my store does a double take when they walk past my Raider and many ask to sit on it.
